HOW TO SAVE MONEY ON BOOKS (FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS)

So it's time for another semester. Or maybe its your first semester. Either way, books are expensive. This post will show you how to save money on books.


Before we get started, you should know:

One of the first things you should check (if possible) is the need for the book. Some courses say they have required texts, but you never open the book once the whole semester. Ask around. See if anyone knows if you actually need the book or not.


Still need the book? There are several places you can get your books:

1. THE SCHOOL BOOKSTORE
The first thing you need to know about buying textbooks is that the school bookstore is almost always the most expensive place to get the books. The only thing that the bookstore can offer you is convenience, except, in some cases, where you have to buy the school edition of the book. For example, the University of Akron has books that were especially tailored to their needs. For this reason, the bookstore is generally the best place to get these books, although you should consider looking for them online first.

2. ONLINE
There are many sites that offer the books you need for school. The most important thing to remember about buying online is that you need the correct ISBN of the book. Looking at the cover and title is not ideal, though may have to suffice if you can't get your hands on the ISBN. Contact your professor or the head of your department to get the ISBN. The main upside of shopping online is selection and price. The downside is that which always comes with buying online: be careful of who you buy from. Reputation is the most important criteria for online shopping.

3. RENTING
You can rent books for semesters at a time. Though this is generally much cheaper than buying textbooks, there is obviously no buyback on your textbooks. There are both real world stores and online stores that offer this service.

4. FRIENDS
Do you know a friend who is taking the same class as you or that has already taken the class you're in? Maybe you can both go half in and buy or rent a textbook. Or, if they've already taken it, maybe you can trade a book of your own that they need for a class for the one you need. These are both very good ways to get that book you need.

5. YOUR LOCAL LIBRARY
Many people don't realize this, but many times you can actually check out the book you need from the library. You should research both your city library and your school library for these materials. The main benefit of this is that you can get the books you need for free (not including late fees)! Drawbacks are limited times that you can have the book and availability.

HOW TO STOP A SOUND IN THE TIMELINE

This tutorial will show you how to stop a sound in the timeline so it doesn't continue on and on.

STEP 1
Select a frame inside your sound layer. Go to the Properties pallet on the right and drop down the menu under Sound.

STEP 2
Click the EVENT area and change it to STREAM.
